Job description
The candidate will have experience in field development with exposure to geological evaluation and multi-well pad execution specific to active horizontal geosteering operations. The candidate will also have experience providing assistance in well planning and drilling execution capable to work in a real-time operations center on shift rotation with multidisciplinary teams.
Technical Requirements:
• Experienced utilizing well known geosteering applications such as StarSteer is required.
• Experienced with geosteering automation (AI) or assisted geosteering is an advantage.
• Able to conduct data analytics using Python scripting, TIBCO Spotfire, Orange or similar apps.
• Proficiency in data visualization platforms such as PowerBI or Tableau.
• Capable of performing 2D and 3D seismic interpretation is an advantage.
• Knowledgeable on directional drilling technology use, RSS, and mud motors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the team as follows:
• Provide geological input on target selection, wellbore trajectory and geosteering operations
• Work in a 24/7 rotation schedule remotely monitoring operations from the headquarters.
• Work on shift rotation, days and nights as per the 8 hour shift program.
• Geosteer complex wells using advanced LWD technology independently
• Train junior professionals to develop the required real-time operations skills.
• Monitor well execution and operation maintaining proper communication with rig site.
• Use drilling parameters and well correlations to identify coring points.
• Document operations in written reports and illustrate with cross sections, maps etc.
• Evaluate current practices to identify improvement opportunities Company wide.
• Present methodology and project evaluation to technical management.
Job requirements
Bachelor's degree in Geology or a related science as appropriate to the required discipline. An advanced degree is preferred and will reduce prerequisite work experience stated below by one year for master degree and two years for PhD.
We are targeting 10+ years’ experience with at least 5-10 years in unconventional plays including shale or tight gas, with some US experience in unconventional hydrocarbon basins required. We will consider candidates with more or less experience depending on the quality of their experience.
